Publications

I’ve listed titles here without publishers, dates and so on. If you wish to know more about a particular title, you can often find information on Amazon or contact me directly.  Quite a few are still in print!

‘Son of the Secret Gardener’ doesn’t fit into any of the categories below. It’s the story of my father and grandfather, both gardeners. Its starting point is ‘The Secret Garden’ and my discovery that my grandfather was gardener to the author of that book, Frances Hodgson Burnett. It also contains some of my father’s meticulous garden diaries from the mid 20th century. It’s probably the book I am most proud of.

Poems for adults tend to be published in magazines and the odd anthology. I write less adult poetry these days with two notable exceptions: the sonnets and material I write for the Three Voices gigs, now in their fourth year.  Plus, the new self-publishing venture, Fern House Books, which has been really fun and enabled me to do exactly what I wanted to do. ‘Between Wolds and Water’ has been reprinted and we’re on our way into profit on ‘The Ballad of John Harrison’.
