Barb Jungr has been singing since the 1970s. How come I’ve only just discovered her? Luckily, friends in the village alerted us and we were able to hear her at Hull Truck on Saturday night. A wonderful voice and a great stage presence made this an evening to treasure. As a bonus, she was singing interpretations of Dylan songs and though I like the old man’s gravelly voice, I must say Barb brought something extra to the lyrics. Old favourites like ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ and ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ became new and fresh again. Don’t be misled by the name: Barb is the very opposite of sharp and unpleasant!
