Strange to be drinking coffee up in the roofspace of the old Beverley Playhouse. Not that long ago we sat there (downstairs that is) listening to musicians such as Jacques Loussier, The Blues Band, Alan Price and even Larry Adler. It was a bit of a health and safety hazard, I admit. Some of the tip-up seats simply didn’t exist and had to be replaced by a stool…  The lack of a ‘green room’ was a plus, though, as you could almost always meet them outside or in the Dog and Duck during the interval. Good to see the building refurbished rather than demolished even if we have lost a great venue.
