Newby Hall Gardens

Newby Hall is home to some of the best (and deepest) herbaceous borders I’ve seen, with lovely swathes of delphiniums, achillea and rudbeckia – and much more, of course.  Paths wind between hostas and ferns,  through low shrubs and stately trees and water is never far away – whether the River Ure, the trickling streams or the ornamental pond pictured here.  Rain was never far away either but we were spared any downpours.  Those with gleaming paintwork were relieved, as beyond the gardens there were further swathes: of Jaguars.
