The lengthy preparations paid off – another great weekend. The weather was dodgy but managed to stay clear enough for folk to wander the streets until half way through the Sunday afternoon which saw a heavy shower forcing Barrow Band to scamper for cover. The picture above shows our judge, Amanda White from Look North and Radio Humberside awarding one of the prize hampers.  Below are two more winning barrows.  The first shows a ‘barrow for every season’ made by the two girls from our local butcher’s and their gran which won the People’s Vote.

And here’s one of my favourites which makes use of the telegraph pole outside their house…

We had a lot of additional helpers this year which made the whole thing easier to manage – though it still seemed to occupy me completely for the preceding two weeks.  A bit of a rest now until the next event – the John Harrison statue….
